Team IMD win!

I (Pablo) won the Cyber-Duck Associate award! How freakin’ cool is that?!

I’ve landed myself a 3 month Internship, a pretty certificate and….. A FREAKIN’ IPAD!

Obviously I’m hugely flattered but the exposure this gets (for both myself, the course and the rest of the New Designers) is incredible, It’s one thing coming to London and having your work exposed to 1000′s of people but to win an award just blows it out the water.

In other news, we had Microsoft pay us a visit and they seemed to be thoroughly engaged in every project – obviously asking all the hard questions.

Seems this whole New Designer’s thing was worth it after all!

Our completed space

Finished! With about 30 seconds to spare.

Almost there

An exhausting 2nd day of setting up our space…Things are beginning to shape up, however we still have a bit to do !  This means we will be back in at 8am tomorrow to finish up.  Preview night is tomorrow night so fingers crossed!

Here is what we have so far…

Getting there…

So, we are finally getting somewhere with our space for new designers. All of our cubes are constructed – apart from one omission (coming soon though) and we have arranged them in the mock up of our space. It took some gentle shifting this way and that but the cubes are now positioned in a way that we feel does each of our projects justice. They also work really well together as an exhibition in the small amount of space we have had to play with.

All of our business cards have been printed (See Below), vinyls for our wall graphics should be on the way shortly and paint has been purchased for the cubes and walls. Decisions about videos have been made and I think we are all happy with how things are coming together. Just need to make things look a bit prettier.

All we need now is for our project information boards to be printed and we will be done with stage Dundee.

London here we come!

Hows it looking!

Boxes are on the way!

Beginnings

Well, here we are, 3 weeks before the exhibition opens. We’ve spent the past week or so nailing down the plans for what the space is going to look like, arguing over how elements should be designed and made a model using kappa board and sugar cubes – ultra stressfull. But, finally, the space is beginning to come together and there is some form of vision for how this whole thing is going to pan out!

Model fo the space

We’ve decided to take a cube approach to the “set design” with each project being displayed on or with cuboid shapes; we’ve also taken the grey & yellow colour scheme of the degree show and incorporated it into the design of the space. Our space is tiny but with only six of us exhibiting I think we’ll manage to turn it into a very professional, intimate area. At least, that’s the plan…
