Degree Show - starts Friday 16 May 2008

For the final degree show there are a number improvements to be made to the application. I will perform at least one other user test to indicate any other problems and to check if the design changes I have made improved the application by making it more usable.

A series of icons or symbols will be investigated to see if it helps highlight important project factors and how they relate to the tasks in the project. How to implement this without making the application too cluttered is key. I think that developing a legend, which is explained on the opening screen, could be a good way of introducing the symbol set.

The opening screen should be similar to the home page content on this site. This message has to try to inform the Client of the uniqueness of every design process but not put them off exploring the application. The message must be concise and including the symbol legend should prevent people from getting perturbed by too much of text.

By animating the sub menus to show the flow through the design process and a suggested order of project tasks will increase the understanding. A key issue is to make sure that the user understands that although the sub menu is animated there is content to be revealed behind the buttons.

The addition of animated diagrams, video and more audio will really improve the application and give a greater depth of information so the Client will not be put off by thinking that they have to read lots of text to understand the content.

Any information added and changes made must be incorporated in an intelligent manner, clearly labelled, correctly formatted and must add to the usability and accessibility of the application.
