Critical Reflection on project.

Looking back over this year and my project I am fairly happy with how it has turned out. There are of course a few things that I would do differently in hindsight.

For instance, I would start out with slightly more realistic goals in terms of the task I wanted to accomplish. Controlling mains power may have been ideal for my product, but was far too difficult and dangerous for my skills in that area. Some good did come from it though, as I did learn more about electronics, which did help me later on in the project.

Another area in which I wish I had done more work would be in the evaluation with the users. I would conduct more focus group and testing sessions with more and varied participants. I also would have started them earlier in conducting them, to avoid a last minute rush. Although this was partly to do with getting the O.K. from the ethics committee.

On the point of time management, I would have tried to manage my time slightly better, and be in for longer periods on the scheduled studio days to make the most of the supervisors support.

Areas of success

The focus groups that I conducted were of great value, and provided me with much of what I needed. The ideas and feedback generated were great.

The branding seemed to fall into place fairly easily and naturally. It is strong and fits the project well.

The Concept seemed to be a valid and the product seems to meet the have the desired effect.

In general the project went well. It has been fun and interesting experience, most of the time.
