Go Board -Image from: Go originates from China from over 3000 years ago. It is not yet known who created the game, but there are rumours that an Emperor created the game for his son to improve his mind and strategic skills. Go is known as one of the most complicated board games that exists being the only game that an AI cannot be programmed for (as of yet). Go is known with various different names around the world such as Wéiqí in Chinese (Traditional: 圍棋; Simplified: 围棋), Igo (囲碁?) or Go (碁?) in Japanese, and Baduk in Korean (Hangul: 바둑).
Cluedo Box - Image from: http://www.otherlandtoys.co.uk/images/cluedo1_800.jpg In the game of Cluedo each player takes on the role of an investigator who must solve a murder by identifying the suspect, the weapon and the room before the opposing investigators (players) and as a result win the game. Although Cluedo did not relate greatly to my game at first, it soon became the catalyst for my design with my game taking on a similar layout to Cluedo. The most enjoyable element of Cluedo was the exciting race to the end, to beat the other investigators and determine the murderer, weapon and room before them. My game was influenced in some ways by Cluedo, but instead Jail Break is a race to escape before the other inmates.

Yu-Gi-Oh! was definitely one of the most important parts of my research. Yu-Gi-Oh! is a trading card game. The Yu-Gi-Oh! players use cards to play the game, the cards have three categories:-
This gave me the idea of integrating attack and defence cards into my board game, that made the game far more interesting, entertaining and more competitive.
